On Friday, July 4th I had my bris. Although my mommy was really nervous and sad for me, I was a trooper and didn't even cry. After the circumcision my mommy and daddy shared with my 75 guests these words on why they named me Tyler Benjamin:
Our son, Tyler Benjamin is named after my paternal grandparents, Ted and Beverly. I called my grandpa Ted "papa." His given name was Edwin. My papa was a hard working, loving person who would do anything for anybody. I think the best word to describe him would be "character." He was a person with much character as well as being a "character" in life. He was always joking and always would bring smiles to everyone around him. He was a very caring person, and always held a special place in my life and Alan was honored to get to know him briefly before he died.
Tyler’s Hebrew name is Ezra, which means “help.” We both know Tyler will one day prove to be of much help to both his parents as well as all those he encounters in his life. But in the meantime we look forward to all the ways we can help our beautiful baby boy grow into a fine young man who shares those characteristics with his great grandfather. In Tyler, we hope to bring up a loving, hard working, caring child. In the spirit of his great grandfather we will do everything we can to impart in him that same sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.
Tyler was given the middle name of Benjamin, or in Hebrew Binyamin, in honor of my grandmother Beverly, or as I knew her "nanny." I don’t have many recollections of my nanny, as she died too young, at 45, when I was only four. I am told she was a wonderful, honest, caring person who would never say or do anything that would cause pain to anyone. One of my few memories is of her kissing me nonstop and I know that Tyler already feels this same loving sensation daily from both his parents! I know that she must have been a very, special person because she babysat myself, my sister and my two cousins full time – starting as infants up until she died when we were three and four.
We hope to impart in Tyler those same traits that made Candace’s Nanny such a wonderful person: a love of family and an honest, pure spirit. We will do all that we can to show the same love and affection to Tyler as Candace’s Nanny showed to all her grandchildren.

I really enjoyed getting to meet all my guests while my daddy held me in the Baby Bjorn! Unfortunately I was a little too cranky to see the fireworks, but I can't wait to experience them next year.

My Auntie Mel Mel finally came to visit me this week. I am having so much fun with her and will be sad when she leaves next week. I'll blog again soon, but for now it's time to eat!
